    22 May 2025

The Council of Ravenswood School for Girls is excited to announce the appointment of Mrs Suzanne Floro as the eleventh Principal of Ravenswood School for Girls.

Mrs Floro is currently the Head of the Preparatory School at Knox Grammar School – so knows our School community and will be well known to many of our families. Mrs Floro’s passion for embedding education, leadership, wellbeing and innovation inspired the Council, from a strong field of candidates.

Her inclusive leadership style, commitment to educational excellence, and the wellbeing of young people, together with her warm and engaging personality, all resonated with the Council. We believe Mrs Floro is the right leader to build on our strong foundations of educational excellence, Positive Education and innovation.

Mrs Floro is an award-winning educational leader, with a focus on single sex education, curriculum development and academic outcomes, positive psychology and wellbeing, and the inclusion of digital technology to enhance learning experiences and outcomes.  She believes that personalised learning supports each student to excel with their individual gifts and talents.

Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Education, Post Graduate Diplomas in Psychology and Children’s Literature, and a Certificate in Gifted Education.

Mrs Floro is currently the President of the Independent Primary School Heads Association (IPSHA) NSW, and a Board Member of IPSHA National. She received an Excellence Award at the 2019 Australian Education Awards for Primary School Principal of the Year (Non-Government). She also received the Prime Minister’s Medal for contribution to Australian Sport, and was herself an elite athlete.

At Knox, Mrs Floro has been part of the K-12 School Executive for seven years where she has led the Years 5-8 continuum project, along with a focus on wellbeing in the Preparatory School.  Her previous positions include Head of Junior School at MLC, and Deputy Head of Junior School at Trinity Grammar and Tara Anglican School.

Mrs Floro will commence at Ravenswood in Term 1 2026.  In the meantime, our wonderful Head of Junior School and Deputy Principal, Ms Sarah Guy, will serve as Acting Principal during Semester 2.

I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Dr Johnstone for her stunning leadership and contribution to Ravenswood as a school, as well as to our students, staff, Alumni and the broader school community. We wish her all the best as she concludes her time after a decade of exceptional service, to take up her appointment as Head of Cranbrook School. We look forward to Anne and Andrew continuing as parents in our Ravenswood community. Dr Johnstone’s outstanding leadership has developed a powerful culture of learning and wellbeing, connection and belonging that is world class, and has positioned our School exceptionally well to enter a new era under Mrs Floro’s leadership.

I also look forward to having you join us for an evening to farewell and celebrate the exceptional leadership and service of Anne on Friday 27 June 2025.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mr Peter Roach
