Rachel Fife (Newton, 1997): Appointed Deputy State Commissioner for Girls Guides NSW, ACT and NT
We wish to congratulate Rachel Fife (Newton, 1997) – Ravenswood Alumni Committee member and Ravenswood Parent Association member – who has been appointed the Deputy State Commissioner for Girl Guides for NSW, ACT and NT.
At an event in September 2024, outgoing State Commissioner Sarah Neill handed the reigns to a new leadership team, headed by Jo Tonon with deputies Rachel Fife and Kirstyn Taylor.
'I’ve had the privilege of guiding and empowering young girls and women as a Leader with Girl Guides Australia for 25 years,' says Rachel. 'Guiding is more than just badges and campfires—it’s about equipping young women with essential life skills, resilience, independence, respect and a strong sense of community through service, outdoor adventures, and leadership opportunities. It’s about giving girls skills that they in turn can use to support others and make a difference in the world.
'The principles of Ravenswood and Guiding closely align and I am particularly proud to have positively supported so many Ravenswood girls on their Guiding journeys. It has been truly rewarding watching them be courageous and grow in confidence to take on leadership roles as school leaders and prefects and also achieve high ranks within the Knox Ravenswood Cadet Unit. These young women will play a part of shaping the world as strong, empowered and capable women and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact.'
